Returning for it’s 4th instalment is Detour Scotlands Podcast & live shows. This time with extra northern exposure.
January’s Detour Live didn’t just ignore the cold & overdrawn bank accounts it fuck there faces with a rammed to (over) capacity Bloc.
Gaining acknowledgment from ever wider circles Detour Scotland is quickly becoming THE gig to hit each month. Even better you can take it home, on the bus, tube, even round your Grannys with downloadable podcast.
This month they have Light Guides, Departures, Make Sparks, special guest & Dj sets till 3am in Bloc Glasgow on Wednesday 10th then on Thursday 11th Mad Hatters in Inverness gets pumped with Light Guides, Make Sparks & The Boy Who Trapped The Sun with all the trimmings of Detour fuckery!
POW! 2010 just got it’s balls felt. From behind. In the dark. Yoursound came crashing into the new decade with another stoater of a playlist & shameless DJ set from Decembers Artist of the Month, Olympic Swimmers.
Partaking in some Sunday afternoon beverages & emerging music were The Ocean Fracture, Casino Brag, SKay, Suplexthekid, Oliver Stays, Terry Balfour, MOPP, Lions Chase Tigers, Jamie Flett & more… for more on the playlist see King Tuts
For those that require a gentle breaking in for those weekend festivities you can’t go wrong with Concrete Campfire @ Brel.
Every Thursday they host the best in new & established musicians of all genres. The week it’s the great Ultan Conlon all the way from across the water.
Having taken my self out the game in January to recharge my battered & bruised man batteries I thought long & hard about hitting back with a top end post, one of those that strip the skin from your knuckles…. so here it is ‘Snow Patrol’ announce only UK mainland gig this year at Bellahouston park Glasgow on the 12th June.
Support comes from Band of Horses & Frightened Rabbit with a ’special guest’ to be announced.
Recently I became a Facebook convert and the constant stream of cool/shite stuff people post and beam poetically about is impressive in some sort of shameful way. So as and when I find something that i think should be further shared with you never make friends types it will appear here or there…

Another week & another spot on Vic Galloways Radio 1 Introducing show. I’ll be doing my B thing from midnight Wednesday talking up two artists that I’m currently listening to & loving.
I really love doing this spot as 1) I love radio as a medium of communication 2) new music is my single greatest love 3) Vic Galloway & producer Muslim Alim are two people I greatly respect as broadcasters & as people with great taste & passion for music.
So tune & enjoy.
Ps I believe the excellent Three Blind Wolves are in session. Ross Clarks moustache is amazing. Shame you can’t see it on the radio. Guess you’ll have to go see them live. No bad thing.
Wet. Windy. Cold. Don’t you love the Scottish summer & it’s 12month policy?Should you be trying to fend off the depression of the dark nights or boredom of budget restrained council tv then may I offer a few remidies? Oral or injection?
Wednesday at the Old Fruit Market Glasgow sees the culmination of a unique project. The Great Rock ‘N Roll Swindle, run by The Brew House; a collaboration of composers, conductors & seriously great musicians. The premise is simple, 25 & under & write your own music, come play with a 15 piece orchestra. They’ll help with arrangement & scoring. You, get a once in a lifetime opportunity.
This Silent Forest are one of the artists to be involved. And fuck are we excited. Sex wee excited. Other acts include Patricia Panther, who I recently featured on BBC Radio 1 Introducting with Vic Galloway. Going be a batter of a night. Come along, 8.30pm & £5.
